About this Event
Join us for a poetry reading by three Minnesota based poets! Books by each poet will be available for purchase at the reading with cash or check.
Florence Dacey of Northfield is the author of five published poetry collections, including her latest book, The Mercy of Stone, Poems from Fifty Years (Midwest Villages & Voices, 2023). She is a recipient of a Loft-McKnight Award and Southwest Minnesota Arts Council artist grants. Her poems are grounded in her experiences as a woman, mother and grandmother and sometimes draw on her involvement in feminist, peace, justice, and environmental causes.
Deborah Keenan is the author of eleven books of poetry. Her newest, The Saint of Everything, follows paths of saints and murderers and artists among other visions. A professor in the MFA program at Hamline University for thirty years, she now teaches privately and for The Loft. Her book, Willow Room, Green Door: New and Selected Poems, received the Minnesota Book Award. She will read from these two collections. She's delighted to be in Northfield, once again, where she has twice read and done day-long teaching at St. Olaf.
Joyce Sutphen grew up on a farm in Stearns County, Minnesota. Her first book of poetry, Straight Out of View, won the Barnard New Women’s Poets Prize Press (1995). Her recent books are Carrying Water to the Field: New and Selected Poems (University of Nebraska Press, 2019), This Long Winter (Carnegie Mellon Press 2021), and That Other Life (2023). She served as the Minnesota Poet Laureate from 2011 to 2021, succeeding Robert Bly, and she is professor emerita of literature and creative writing at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
